How To Use ATP AT-205 Re-seal Stops Leaks?

Last week, I saw oil drips underneath my high-mileage Ford pickup truck. I was shocked because I regularly change the oil and oil filter every 5k miles with full synthetic oil. Then I realized it might cause a worn-out gasket, seal, O-ring, or valve stems. However, I didn’t pay much attention to the cause as there were two or three oil drops.

So I decided to add stop oil leaks to re-seal the cracks. I heard before about the ATP AT-205 Re-seal Stops Leaks, but I was not sure about its efficiency. However, I decided to try it as it is made of polymer and doesn’t harm the internal component. I have also checked numerous positive reviews about this product.

In the below section, I will share the simple way to use ATP AT-205 Re-seal Stops Leaks and also share its efficiency after usage.

What is ATP AT-205 re-seal oil leaks?

ATP AT-205 is a special plasticizer that softens and expands hydraulic seals and prevents oil leaks. It contains purely rubbery polymer and there is no trace of petroleum distillates. So it is safe to use in sensitive parts.

The stop-leak oil will work on the engine and any hydraulic system like jacks, lifts, plows, etc. But it is not suitable for brake, beware about it. You can also use it while installing new seals and O-rings to ensure a leak-free rebuild.

How Works ATP AT-205 Re-seal Stops Leaks?

According to the manufacturer, ATP AT-205 Re-seal Stops Leak is a plasticizer. It is a special formula of rubber or polymer-type molecules that bring back hardness and flexibility. Often seals and gaskets wear out over time. They get dry out, harden, and break which mainly causes oil leaks.

This oil leak product is the best solution to treat them. It will restore their flexibility and prevent leaks with its sealing properties. This is an additive blend that mixes with engine oil in the system. While driving, the solvent is circulated throughout the operation, and the cracks and gaskets.

Until the rubber seal and gasket are severely damaged or broken, they will be conditioned with the product within 5 hours of driving.

How To Use ATP AT-205 Re-seal Stops Leaks?

After getting the AT-205 in my hand, I straight-up go through the description of the bottle. Inside the packaging, you will get an 8oz bottle that will be suitable for a 6-quart capacity. You can lower and higher the amount according to your engine oil capacity. The oil works with hydraulic oil, synthetic and conventional oil, power steering fluids, gear oil, and ATF.

It’s super easy to use the AT-205. Follow the steps:

  • Make sure your engine oil level is right to the recommendation.
  • Open the engine oil fill cap.
  • If you have a 6-quart engine capacity, then pour up the bottle.
  • Then close the cap.

That’s it. Isn’t it super simple? Let me tell you that AT-205 requires 5 hours of driving time to be fully effective. But you should go for a quick drive after pouring it to make sure all the things are mixed up together. If you don’t drive, it might be sitting on top or bottom. You must go for a drive to give a good spin inside the components. But it’s not necessary to drive 5 hours at a stretch.

After pouring the ATP AT-205 into the truck, I go for a quick drive for about half an hour. Then the vehicle was parked overnight and in the morning, I noticed no traces of oil underneath. However, I go out with my truck and drive for about three hours and the engine was nicely warmed. I was sure, this time would work for the product.

After leaving it for a few hours and inspecting the vehicle, to my surprise, I couldn’t find any signs of oil leaks underneath. This discovery made me both surprised and delighted, as it indicated that the oil leaks had been effectively stopped. I also examined the engine bay with a light and observed that it was dry. I’m hopeful that the product has successfully sealed all the cracks, rubber seals, and other areas within the engine, ensuring its proper functioning.

ATP AT-205 is a great little product that can save you money by cutting off expensive replacements. However the price is a bit expensive compared to other oil stop leak products. You will get the expected performance and value for your money.

My take on ATP AT-205 re-seal oil leaks will be effective if there are small cracks or leaks. Major breakdown won’t seal with this product.
